Engaged by a major railway undertaking to design and undertake a safety
management audit which:
- Tested both systems and individuals against the SMS
- Identified areas of good practice,
- Identified any areas of non-compliance in respect to the SMS requirements;
and,
- Established whether non-compliances were localised or systemic.
Client: British American Rail Services
Recently completed a project for British American Rail Services which enabled
Devon & Cornwall Railway (their UK train operator) to become the latest “UK
mainline open access” passenger and freight train operator. This work included:
- Development of a safety management systems tailored to the company’s
needs
- Drafting of all operational procedures to ensure they are fully compliant
with the UK legislation and rail industry requirements
- Producing the company’s high level safety certification application
document
Client: First Hull Trains
Engaged by First Hull Trains to undertake the safety verification in accordance
with ROGS to support the introduction of the class 180 fleet and the transfer
of engineering maintenance from one service provider to another.
Client: Iarnród Éireann
To date, RODL has supported Iarnród Éireann in producing their class 22000,
2900, MKIV and 8100 traction manuals/drivers handbooks for.
Client: Network Rail
Global system for mobile communications for railway networks (GSM-R)
RODL supported the development of the specification for both radio
training simulators and subsequently developed the training plans for both
systems.
We are providing training resources for both the in-cab (driver/conductor)
and fixed terminal (signaller) systems and have been engaged by Network Rail
to provide train the trainer courses as part of the national rollout for the
in-cab radio system.

Production of operational instructions for new traincare depot
RODL wrote the operational instructions for Irish Rail’s “state
of the art” traincare depot at Portlaoise, which covered train movements,
depot protection arrangements and operational risk.

RODL has developed and delivered company specific training courses which provides
the trainees with the skills and competence to undertake the role of an accident
& incident investigator. Each course is delivered by RODL personnel who have
significant experience in undertaking accident & incident investigations from
